Government jobs shrink in 2011

The number of full-time equivalent employees working in state and local governments fell by 1.4 percent, according to the latest statistics available.

The U.S. Census Bureau today released estimates that say there were 16.4 million full-time equivalent workers in March 2011, down from the prior year. In Iowa, there were 146,868 full-time jobs, down from 149,885 in 2010
