House sales dropped in January from the previous month but remained 10 percent higher than in January 2015, the Des Moines Area Association of Realtors said today. Sales dropped to 671 last month from 920 in December, with the decline attributed to a normal seasonal slowdown, according to a release. The number of houses on the market was down 4 percent to 3,157 in the month-to-month measure. Pending sales rose to 927 from 868 over the same period. The median sales price was $165,000 in January, down from $188,000 in December. The median sales price in January 2015 was $149,000.
