Gov. Terry Branstad on Friday recognized Grimes as the latest city to achieve the Home Base Iowa Community designation. Home Base Iowa connects transitioning military members and veterans with career opportunities in Iowa companies. To date, members of the Iowa Business Council, Iowa’s largest employers, have hired more than 1,300 employees through Home Base Iowa. Grimes is the 19th community to receive the recognition. In a release, Branstad said: “With continued partnerships between the state, communities and businesses, Iowa will establish itself as a premier location for service members leaving the armed forces in search of a civilian career.”
