149 wordsAll Latest News, Economic Development, EducationGrinnell College plans a new event, “Teaching Diplomacy for the Next Generation,” featuring a rare Midwestern appearance by the Council on Foreign Relations. The event runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 13. Keynote speakers will beJames M. Lindsay, CFR’s senior vice president, and Daniel Kurtz-Phelan, executive editor of Foreign Affairs. Workshops will be offered to faculty members from schools in Iowa and Minnesota and regional high school and middle school teachers. Iowa teachers will get a free demonstration of Model Diplomacy, CFR’s program of National Security Council simulations based on real-world case studies. CFR is an independent, non-partisan membership organization, think tank and publisher providing research and analysis to help interested citizens better understand the world and the current foreign policy choices. Its members include the likes of actress Angelina Jolie, CNN personality Fareed Zakaria and former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
