Groundworks, Habitat for Humanity team up for a home build in Des Moines

153 wordsAll Latest News, Nonprofits & PhilanthropyGroundworks, a foundation solutions company, and Habitat for Humanity, a global nonprofit housing organization that works in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S., will begin constructing a home in Des Moines for one family today. The home will be the 14th of 55 projects nationwide this year as a result of the Groundworks and Habitat for Humanity partnership. The construction will take place from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 2314 Williams St. Volunteers from the Des Moines-based Foundation Recovery Systems company, along with members from the Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity, will help construct the new home. More than 4,000 Groundworks employees are taking part in builds around the country this year. This is the second straight year of the partnership between Groundworks and Habitat for Humanity, with Groundworks having donated $100,000 to Habitat for Humanity to support long-term stability for families through safe, affordable housing.
