Grow Solar Warren County wraps up with more than 100 kW of solar power
The Grow Solar Warren County program has signed more than 117 kilowatts of solar power. According to a news release, that’s enough to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 231,000 pounds, the equivalent of driving more than 246,000 miles in an average passenger car or the burning of more than 109,000 pounds of coal. The program, which kicked off in July, has now ended but Patrick Snell, external affairs coordinator for the Nature Conservancy in Iowa, said his organization, which hosted the program, was thrilled with the response. “At the end of the program, we had a total of 45 site assessments and 94 people virtually attend the informational sessions with questions and excitement to see if solar is right for their home or business,” Snell said. With federal solar tax credits phasing out and set to expire at the end of 2022, homeowners and businesses needed to have solar installed by the end of this year to take advantage of current tax credit rates. The program was administered by the Midwest Renewable Energy Association at no cost to the community.
