West Des Moines-based GuideOne Insurance announced that it will begin a pilot project in March to install water leak and freeze detectors in 2,000 churches that it provides property casualty coverage for across the country. GuideOne said in a release that the project will place 4,000 Wi-Fi-enabled detectors that can sense water leaks, humidity and freezing temperatures, and deliver alerts via a mobile app to help minimize damage and loss. The company said the pilot is meant to demonstrate the value of the Roost Smart Water Leak and Freeze Detector devices. “Roost’s simple, affordable telematics solution helps GuideOne agents and brokers nurture a digital relationship with commercial clients and supports claims mitigation for preventable water leaks,” Michelle Glasl, GuideOne’s chief information officer and vice president for strategic initiatives.
