Habitat begins work on two neighborhoods
Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity (GDM Habitat), along with Principal Financial Group Inc. and other community organizations, plan to improve two Des Moines neighborhoods this weekend.
Starting on Thursday, volunteers will work to improve 17 homes, a church, part of the John R. Grubb branch of the YMCA and a public garden.
The effort is part of GDM Habitat’s Rock the Block 2012 program. Crews will be working to improve the King Irving and Mondamin Presidential neighborhoods on Des Moines’ north side, according to a release.
