Hands-on event promoting skilled trades planned in Des Moines

137 wordsAll Latest News, Education, Real Estate and Development, Retail and BusinessMore than 2,500 Iowa high school students from 75 school districts are expected to attend “Build My Future,” which will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Varied Industries Building on the Iowa State Fairgrounds. The event is being brought to Central Iowa by Iowa Skilled Trades and its partners, according to a news release. The event’s goal is to inform young people, educators and others on what the skilled trades industry includes. Students will be able to take part in more than 65 hands-on activities. Iowa Skilled Trades was founded as a way to provide support and educational information to build the skilled trades industries in Iowa. Iowa Skilled Trades focuses its initiatives on providing education and hands-on experience to high school students in Iowa who are interested in pursuing a skilled trades career.
