Harrington, currently director of innovation at Business Publications Corp. in Des Moines, will succeed Carole Chambers, who announced in December she would be retiring. Harrington brings to the position a wealth of knowledge and experience in marketing and promoting businesses and the community as a top-rated place to work, live and play. “We are thrilled to have someone of Katherine’s caliber and experience to step up to lead the chamber,” said board Chair Chris Nelson. “We are at a critical moment, and Katherine’s ideas and innovation will fuel the momentum that Carole has begun.” The selection committee’s goal was to find a successor who could keep the momentum that has been built during Chambers’ tenure, and take the organization to the next level. “The decision was carefully considered through a process of interviews with key stakeholders representing businesses large and small,” said board Treasurer Angela Jackson. Chambers is expected to retire in early April following Harrington’s start on April 1.
