Health care industry leads job growth
Health care positions are the fastest-growing jobs in the United States as baby boomers age and require more care, reported Forbes News. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, between 2004 and 2014, 17 of the 30 fastest-growing positions will be related to health care.
Home health aides top the list with an estimated 56 percent growth over the next eight years. Doctors and nurses did not make the list, but medical assistants, dental assistants and physical therapist aides did, a sign that the industry is “shifting responsibilities toward lower-wage, lower-skilled professions to combat escalating health care costs,” said Hugo Sellert, a research manager at Monster Worldwide.
Technology positions are also increasing along with college professors and preschool teachers. As more companies chose environmentally friendly practices, there will be an increase in environmental engineers.
