Healthiest State launches 5-2-1-0 program for workplaces
The Healthiest State Initiative, in partnership with the Iowa Department of Public Health, has launched a new opportunity for Iowa workplaces to support healthy choices for their employees. Employers of all sizes and representing all sectors are invited to sign up as a 5-2-1-0 Healthy Choices Count! Registered Workplace. The initiative was first launched statewide in October 2017 as a children’s health program. It focuses on the importance of four numbers: 5 or more fruits or vegetables each day; 2 hours or less of recreational screen time; 1 hour or more of physical activity; 0 sugary drinks – drink more water. “The health of Iowa’s workforce is vital to the success and sustainability of our state in the future,” said Gerd Clabaugh, director of the Iowa Department of Public Health. “We’re calling on employers statewide to make the healthy choice the easy choice for their employees by aligning their wellness efforts to achieve the goals outlined by the 5-2-1-0 Healthy Choices Count! initiative.” Registration is free and can be completed here.
