HealthPartners UnityPoint Health announced plans to offer Medicare Advantage plans in selected counties in Iowa and western Illinois for the 2017 plan year. Pending regulatory approval, the plans will be available beginning Oct. 15, the start of Medicare’s open enrollment period. Plans will be offered in 25 Iowa counties, including Polk, Dallas and Warren. Medicare Advantage combines medical benefits and prescription drug coverage into one plan. UnityPoint Health in November 2015 formed a joint venture with Minnesota-based HealthPartners to launch the health insurance company to target the fast-growing Medicare Advantage market in Iowa.
