Holiday shopping already under way
A National Retail Federation (NRF) holiday consumer spending survey found that 52.8 percent of Americans have already started their holiday shopping, up from 51.4 percent last year.
According to shoppers, this year’s most popular gift items include clothing (59.7 percent); gift cards (59.2 percent); toys (45.1 percent); and books, CDs, DVDs, videos and video games (51.5 percent).
The NRF 2012 Holiday Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey polled 9,383 consumers between Nov. 1 to 6. The consumer poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.0 percent.
