Local contractors and the Home Builders Association of Greater Des Moines are partnering with Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity to construct two new houses as part of Habitat for Humanity’s Home Builders Blitz 2012. Jerry’s Homes Inc., Gratias Construction Inc. and Beal Development Corp. gathered subcontractors and suppliers to obtain materials and professional labor for the build. Construction started today and will be finished by Aug. 30. During Habitat’s nationwide Home Builders Blitz, builders and Habitat affiliates work closely to organize all aspects of building, including securing subcontractors and suppliers, fund raising and seeking donations of materials. Some 200 homes will be built nationwide. Nearly 80 subcontractors will participate in the Greater Des Moines project.
