Home insurers placing more emphasis on credit scores

Homeowners with poor credit pay twice as much for homeowner’s insurance as people with excellent credit in 38 states, according to a new study by the insurance comparison shopping website insuranceQuotes.com. In Iowa, homeowners’ premiums increase an average of 44 percent if their credit score drops from excellent to fair, according to the study, which used data from the largest carriers in each state.
