Home sales ahead of last year’s numbers
In November, 591 homes were sold, up 18 percent from one year ago. Homes were on the market for an average of 122 days, and there were 4,706 active listings. The median sale price was $142,500.
“Heading into the holidays with both the number of contracts written and homes
sold ahead of last year, tells us the Des Moines real estate market is strengthening,”
Les Sulgrove, president of the real estate group, said in a news release.
In November, 273 metro home buyers financed a home purchase using conventional financing and 141 used a Federal Housing Administration loan. Cash purchases made up 133 of the transactions, and the remaining purchases used alternative financing methods.
Home sales dropped from October, when 675 contracts closed at a median price of $148,000. Those houses had been on the market an average of 109 days.
