Des Moines Register: A Downtown Des Moines tropical getaway is getting new ownership. Nick Tillinghast, owner of Des Moines Does Things hospitality group, announced that he sold the group’s East Village bar Bellhop. Tillinghast did not specify who purchased the bar known for its tropical vacation cocktails. Bellhop opened in May 2019 as DMDT’s second cocktail bar after Hello, Marjorie. In 2021, Tillinghast and partners Kyle McClain and Ryan Hutchison opened Good News, Darling and Secret Admirer. Tillinghast said he is transitioning to sole ownership of the Des Moines Does Things brand, and the sale was out of a necessity to downsize operations.
