The Metro Waste Authority is offering bus tours of its landfill in eastern Polk County at 8:30 a.m. June 6 and at 8 a.m. June 26. The landfill on University Avenue/Iowa Highway 163 takes in 1,800 tons of trash a day. The staff calls this a “full-on sensory adventure” that will show the engineering that allows the landfill to meet federal environmental regulations.
