Hoyt Sherman Place director receives influence award posthumously

122 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and Culture, Lift IOWACarol Pollock, who was executive director of Hoyt Sherman Place until her death in May, is the recipient of Venues Today’s 2015 Women of Influence award. Each year, Venues Today, an international trade publication, honors women who are influential leaders in the sports, music and convention industries. During Pollock’s time at Hoyt Sherman Place and after joining VenuWorks, she increased the number of ticketed events by over 75 percent per year while controlling expenses. Her work led to the financial stability of Hoyt Sherman Place during recent economic challenges faced by the organization’s dependence on endowment funding. She was runner-up in the booking category of Venue Today’s 2009 Hall of Headlines award. Pollock died May 15 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
