Hoyt Sherman Place receives $100,000 from W.T. and Edna M. Dahl Trust
Hoyt Sherman Place is launching new restoration efforts on the mansion’s second-floor family spaces with a $100,000 gift from the W.T. and Edna M. Dahl Trust, the organization announced Tuesday. Funding will be used to restore historical significance with period-appropriate window treatments, furniture, flooring, paint, lighting and decor. The space will also showcase Sherman family photos and personal documents. A handicapped-accessible lift will be installed to open the second floor of the mansion to public tours without limitations. Hoyt Sherman Place also received a donation of turn-of-the-century furniture including a his-and-hers bedroom set, and additional furniture will be taken out of storage and displayed. Executive Director Robert Warren said the gift has allowed Hoyt Sherman Place to continue its restoration efforts, but general operational funding and memberships are still needed as live performances continue to be placed on hold due to COVID-19. Live performances typically produce 80% of the Hoyt Sherman Place’s revenue, Warren said.
