Hy-Vee Inc. plans to open stand-alone stores focused on the sale of alcoholic beverages, the West Des Moines-based grocer announced. Called Wall to Wall Wine and Spirits, the stores will sell “best in class” wine, spirits and craft beers. The stores will also sell select grocery products including cheese, chips, crackers, sodas and seltzers. High-end barware and related accessories will also be sold. The first Wall to Wall Wine and Spirits locations are planned in West Des Moines and in Papillion, Omaha and Lincoln, Neb. The stores are expected to open this year.
