IBC announces “big picture” goals
The Iowa Business Council (IBC) released five calls to action to improve Iowa’s economy on Monday at the group’s Annual Partnership Meeting.
The group’s long-term plan, “A Competitiveness Blueprint: Iowa 2025,” covered the categories of economic growth, education, work force, health and well-being, and government efficiency.
The group’s goals include promoting a strong and vigorous business climate; encouraging science, technology, engineering and mathematics-oriented course work in education; attracting and retaining a world-class work force; educating Iowans on health and wellness programs; and supporting continuous process improvement efforts in government.
The IBC also announced a new method of measuring economic progress through an Iowa Competitive Index, to be released for the first time this spring.
