The Iowa Council for International Understanding (ICIU) will use a three-year, $30,000 grant from the Sehgal Family Foundation, USA to establish the Sehgal Family Foundation Center for International Visitors. The center will strive to connect emerging leaders from around the world with Iowans through receptions and learning opportunities.

ICIU works with the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program as one of 92 organizations nationwide chosen to sponsor visits from hundreds of international leaders in professional and cultural exchanges. The international visitors program annually generates almost $1 million in revenue in Iowa.

The Sehgal Family Foundation was created to support development projects here and plant conservation and ecology efforts elsewhere in the world. In India, the foundation supports a variety of programs designed to promote sustainable development at the village level. The foundation’s chairman, Dr. Suri Sehgal, is the founder and past chairman of the India-based Proagro Group of Companies. Sehgal Family Foundation member Jay Sehgal is a member of the ICIU board of directors.
