IEDA awards $3.6 million in grants for community improvements

90 wordsAll Latest News, Economic Development, Statewide NewsThe Iowa Economic Development Authority has awarded nearly $3.6 million in Community Development Block Grants for improvements in 10 communities statewide. According to a news release, the grants are for water and sewer infrastructure improvements, housing rehabilitation and homebuyer assistance. The grants are based on the benefit to low-to-moderate income residents, financial need, project impact and readiness and a commitment to local resources.The program is funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and administered by IEDA.
