A swimming pool cover manufacturer and a commercial vehicle suspension company have been awarded tax benefits that will create 134 jobs and represent more than $10 million in capital investment in Iowa.

The Iowa Economic Development Authority approved the awards to Integra Pool Covers and Link Manufacturing on Friday.

The IEDA board approved $663,705 in Targeted Jobs Withholding Credits for Integra, which plans to purchase an existing facility in Burlington where it intends to expand its product line of automatic pool covers, replacement pool covers and vinyl liners.

According to IEDA documents, the cost of the project is $4.1 million. It will create 80 jobs, with 40 of those positions paying a qualifying wage of $21.61 per hour.

The IEDA board also approved $220,000 in Investment Tax Credits and $109,500 in Sales, Service Use Tax Credits to Link Manufacturing in Sioux Center.

Link develops vehicle suspension systems for original equipment manufacturers, and offers specialty equipment, such as ramps.

According to IEDA documents, the company plans to expand its current facility by 50,000 square feet, which will include the construction of a conference center, added break rooms and remodeling of the existing facility.

The project is needed to support an increase in the company’s production workforce, documents state.

The project is estimated at $6 million, and will create 54 jobs with 14 of those positions paying a qualifying wage of $22.32 an hour.

The IEDA board on Friday also approved awards to two startups:

• Vine Chromatic, based in Ankeny, received a $25,000 Proof of Commercial Relevance Loan for internet protocol development and evaluation, market planning and personnel. The company is a talent booking agency working to connect artists and venues. It plans to create a web application for performers, venues and owners to easily track schedules, streamline marketing and connect with each other.
• Spanton Dynamics, of Fairfield, also received a $25,000 Proof of Commercial Relevance Loan for product refinement, market planning and construction. The company developed the Spanton Board, a power-driven spine board and piece of medical technology to help safeguard athletes who have suffered a head or spine injury. The company has a patent pending for the technology, which helps emergency responders transfer injured people without substantial movement of the head and neck.
