Seventeen physicians from across the state recently completed the inaugural Physician Business Leadership Certification Program. Launched in February, the collaborative seven-month program was designed by Iowa physician executives to prepare physicians interested in developing or enhancing their leadership competencies, broadening their business acumen and understanding of issues important in health care delivery. The inaugural program began following two years of planning by the Iowa Hospital Association, Iowa Medical Society, Iowa Academy of Family Physicians and Iowa Healthcare Collaborative. Faculty involved in leading and developing the program include Dr. Tamara Chance, emergency department medical director at Boone County Hospital; Dr. Michael Romano at the Nebraska Health Network in Council Bluffs; and Dr. Tom Evans of the Iowa Healthcare Collaborative.
