Indianola will celebrate the groundbreaking on the newest YMCA of Greater Des Moines branch on June 5.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will feature remarks by Mayor Ken Bresnan, Greater Des Moines YMCA CEO Vernon Delpesce, and Greater Des Moines Partnership CEO Jay Byers. The Indianola YMCA will be approximately 62,000 square feet and sit on a 6.6-acre lot in the Summercrest Hills development.

The facility will feature an eight-lane competition pool with diving boards, family/recreational teaching pool, community room, gymnasium, racquetball court, indoor track, strength/fitness/cardio area and cardio/spin group exercise studios.
