Ingersoll project breaks ground
The Restoration Ingersoll pilot project will break ground on Tuesday, July 17 at 3 p.m. in front of Palmer’s Deli and Market. The project aims to improve the downtown corridor with corporate, city and state funds, grants and private donations totaling $2.8 million.
The money will help pay for decorative street lighting, widened sidewalks, tree planting, benches, bike racks, planter urns and flower beds, expanding street parking and shared parking lots
“We would like to publicly thank the Greater Des Moines Community Foundation, Janis and John Ruan III, Patty and Jim Cownie, Meredith Corporation, Allied Nationwide, Principal Financial Group, Wells Fargo, Vision Iowa and all of the businesses and individuals whose contributions have pushed us past the tipping point,” Restoration co-chairs Kimberly Hansen and Soozie McBroom said in a statement.
