Insurance industry employment dips in June
The U.S. insurance industry lost 1,400 jobs in June over May, following five consecutive months of job increases in 2019, according to preliminary figures from the U.S. Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, Best’s Insurance News reported. Preliminary figures show the job loss was 0.05% for June 2019 over May 2019. In the previous BLS report, the industry gained 1,400 jobs in May over April. On an annual basis, overall insurance industry employment for June 2019 was 2,710,000 jobs — a preliminary increase of 19,600 jobs (or 0.7%) from the June 2018 level, BLS data shows.
