The Iowa Arts Council has awarded $74,506 in project grants and rural arts development grants to support 14 arts projects across the state, including one in Des Moines. Westminster Presbyterian Church received $9,920 to support the Westminster Fine Arts Series Spring 2014 project. As part of the event, the Westminster Presbyterian Church will present “Freud’s Last Session”, a play produced in conjunction with a local theatre company, and “Triple Concerto”, a concert featuring Des Moines Symphony artists and other professional musicians. The project provides opportunities for students and amateur artists to work alongside professionals. Funding for both grant programs comes from the Iowa Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts. The deadline to apply for the next round of grants is Feb. 3.
