Iowa astronaut to visit Science Center
Astronaut and Iowa native Peggy Whitson will visit Des Moines Oct. 11-13 as part of the Science Center of Iowa and Blank IMAX Dome Theater’s Scientist in Residence program. Whitson, a Mount Ayr native, flew the Science Center of Iowa flag on her mission to the International Space Station in 2007. She has spent 377 days in space, the most for any woman, and has performed six career spacewalks. She will attend a number of public events at the Science Center and give a keynote talk on Oct. 13 at 1 p.m.
