A Brookings Institution report ranks Iowa City as fifth among U.S. metro areas for broadband adoption. The report, which looked at more than 230 metro areas, defines broadband adoption rates as the share of households that have an Internet subscription provided through DSL, cable, fiber optic, mobile broadband, satellite or through a fixed-wireless connection.
