Iowa economy emitted mixed signals in April
The Iowa Leading Indicators Index increased 0.3 percent to 105.8 in April from a revised 105.5 in March, the second consecutive monthly increase, the Iowa Department of Revenue said in a release. The report mixed good news with some not so good news. The monthly diffusion index, which measures positive changes in eight economic measures, declined in April to 43.8 from 68.8 in March, with just three of the eight components experiencing positive changes. Measures of the state economy are sending mixed signals, according to the release. For the first time since May 2015, economic measures when evaluated over a six-month period did not indicate a coming contraction in the economy.
