Iowa Electronic Markets opens presidential predictions
The Iowa Electronic Markets, an education program at the University of Iowa, has opened its presidential nomination predictions for the season.
The program offers “contracts” for Democratic candidates Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton and Republican candidates Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Ben Carson. The markets also list “rest of field” for each party.
The candidate with the highest price is considered to have the best chance of becoming the nominee. Contract payoffs are based on events such as political outcomes. The market is operated by University of Iowa Henry B. Tippie College of Business faculty as an educational and research project.
