Iowa Females You Should Know: Lana Pol
Why
Lana Pol of Pella is the owner and president of four companies: Geetings Inc., G.I. Warehouse Corp., Mowbility Sales & Service LLC, and Creative Inspirations LLC. Those who nominated her called Pol a “true entrepreneur.” Her story is inspiring, they said, because she overcame many challenges in her lifetime, including the death of her father, who founded Geetings and G.I. Warehouse; the retirement of her three older brothers; and the challenges of transferring the family businesses to the family’s third generation, her son and daughter.
Where she’s been
Pol has worked at Geetings Inc. and G.I. Warehouse Corp. since she was in high school. After Geetings and G.I. Warehouse experienced a downturn in 2015, Pol pushed forward with her entrepreneurial spirit. After 43 years primarily spent in the trucking and warehousing industry, Pol opened the doors to a new company, Mowbility Sales & Service LLC, which specializes in the sale of mowers, cross trailers, small engine repair and other products. She also purchased a small embroidery company called Creative Inspirations LLC, which opened in July 2015.
Connection points
Pol has served on several boards including the Marion County Development Commission and the NFIB Advisory Group. She is also a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners. Pol enjoys bowling and recently accepted a position on a woman’s bowling league board. She enjoys volunteering and has helped with many theater groups as well as bowling leagues. Through her businesses, she supports local schools, businesses, fundraisers, the arts and more with financial contributions.
