Iowa Finance Authority awards grants to Boone, Knoxville Habitat for Humanity affiliates

133 wordsAll Latest News, Housing, Nonprofits and PhilanthropyThe Iowa Finance Authority board of directors has awarded $100,000 in State Housing Trust Fund grants to Habitat for Humanity affiliates to support the construction of homes in Boone and Knoxville. The award is funded by the State Housing Trust Fund’s Project-Based Housing Program. Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity Boone received $50,000. This grant and other awards will go toward the construction of a 1,280-square-foot home on an infill lot in Boone. Habitat for Humanity of Marion County also received $50,000, which it will use to assist in the construction of a 1,200-square-foot single-family home in Knoxville. Both homes will be sold to income-qualified homebuyers who will receive financial, home repair, homeownership and foreclosure prevention education and must also complete the required sweat equity hours before closing on the homes.
