Kim Reynolds and other members of the council. The slogan “Tomorrow STEMS from Iowa” highlights the importance of ongoing development and delivery of STEM education resources, said Jeff Weld, executive director of the council. The STEM Council launched in 2011 by executive order of then-Gov. Terry Branstad, and is focused on developing STEM awareness and educational opportunity for students in grades preschool through 12. In 2020, the STEM Council launched new projects including the STEM Essential podcast, STEM Twitter Chats and the Teachable Moment webpage, which curates STEM-related lessons and activities.
