Throughout the month, the Healthiest State Initiative will launch its annual mental health toolkit, unveil a public mural in Cedar Rapids and provide weekly activities for workplaces, schools, and individuals. All Mental Health Awareness Month efforts by the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative are a part of the organization’s “Make It OK” program, which works to raise awareness and reduce stigma around mental illness in Iowa throughout the year. “Continued focus on mental health is vital for building resilience and promoting holistic health,” said Jami Haberl, executive director of the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative, in a prepared statement.
