Nominated properties must provide examples of how they’re reducing, reusing and recycling for long-term sustainability and the environment. Self-nominations will be accepted. The winner will be chosen based on the impact of its sustainable practices, creativity and innovation, as well as the level of difficulty required to implement and maintain each. The winner will be honored at the IHLA’s inaugural awards program on Oct. 2 at the Rewind Hotel in West Des Moines. “Hotels and lodging facilities are homes away from home for weary travelers,” Jessica Dunker, president and CEO of the Iowa Hotel and Lodging Association, said in a prepared release. “Operations embracing eco-friendly practices prove that sustainability does not have to compromise comfort or luxury.” For more information, click here.
