Des Moines Register: Iowa House Speaker Linda Upmeyer on Monday said she will step down from her top role in the Legislature ahead of next session and will not seek reelection as a lawmaker in 2020, a move that will shake up Republican leadership at the Statehouse. Upmeyer, a Republican from Clear Lake who’s served as speaker for four years, released a statement about her decision after a private meeting at the state Capitol with other House Republican legislators. She said she wants to spend more time with her family, including her grandchildren.
