The Iowa Leading Indicators Index compiled by the Iowa Department of Revenue decreased slightly to 105.1 in July 2016 from a revised 105.2 in June, but with rounding, the calculated percentage change was zero percent. The index has experienced two gains, two losses and two unchanged months in the past six months. A longer-term measure, the six-month diffusion index, increased to 50.0, with four of the eight components (agricultural futures profits index, diesel fuel consumption, Iowa stock market index and residential building permits) experiencing an increase of greater than 0.05 percent over the last half a year. The Iowa stock market index was the newest component showing a six-month gain, but was partially offset by a weakening in average weekly unemployment claims.
