UnityPoint Health – Des Moines on Tuesday announced that it has completed phase two of a multimillion-dollar renovation of its emergency and critical care unit (CCU) at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. This week, Iowa Methodist marked the completion of the second of four renovated CCU pods with a total of 36 total patient rooms, as well as the completion of renovated family areas. The Iowa Clinic was a lead donor for the CCU renovation, with a $1 million donation. “This gift is part of our commitment to ensure that state-of-the-art critical care services are available to all Iowans,” said Edward Brown, CEO of The Iowa Clinic. In 2014, the CCU at Iowa Methodist served more than 1,700 patients from across the state in need of critical care due to illness or injury. The entire CCU project will be completed in October 2015. With the completion of phase two of the overall renovation project, the medical center has begun phase three to expand Iowa Methodist’s emergency department as shown in above rendering.Click here to see more renderings of the renovations. To read a Business Record article about the project, click here. Image and animations © 2014 Cross Studio – www.dcrossstudio.com
