Two Iowa-based insurers have been named to the 2016 Top 50 Property and Casualty Performers by Ward Group. Grinnell Mutual, the largest primary reinsurer of farm mutual companies in North America, and Farm Bureau Property & Casualty Insurance Co., an affiliate of West Des Moines-based Farm Bureau Financial Services, were named to the 2016 list. Ward Group analyzed the financial performance of nearly 3,000 U.S.-based property and casualty insurers and identified the top performances based on objective data and subjective quality measures. Each company must pass primary safety and consistency tests and is measured and scored along five-year average returns on equity, assets, total revenue, growth in revenue, growth in surplus and combined ratio.
