Iowa ranks high in national manufacturing scorecard

The 2019 Manufacturing Scorecard from Ball State’s Center for Business and Economic Research analyzes how each state ranks in several areas of the economy that underpin the success of manufacturing and logistics. While Iowa earned A grades in manufacturing and human capital and a B in logistics, the scorecard gave the state a C-minus in several areas, among them benefit costs, global reach and diversification, and an F in tax climate. The nine categories in the report were chosen as those most likely to be considered by site selection experts for manufacturing and logistics firms, and by the prevailing economic research on growth.To see Iowa’s scorecard, click here.
