Iowa had a record number of new business starts in the fiscal year that ended June 30, state officials announced. Between July 1, 2021, and June 30, 33,331 new businesses were registered in the state, breaking the previous record of 33,260 registered the previous year, according to data released by the secretary of state’s office. “Despite rising inflation and supply chain disruptions, this data shows Iowa entrepreneurs are investing in businesses in our state,” Secretary of State Paul Pate said in a prepared release. Between July 1, 2011, and June 30, 2020, Iowa averaged 21,196 new business starts a year, state data shows.
