The nonprofit environmental group Iowa Rivers Revival is seeking nominations for 2016 River Town of the Year, which acknowledges “outstanding efforts to reclaim riverfronts as anchors for economic development, recreation and good ecological practices.” Criteria include tourism efforts, storm water controls, river access and efforts to improve water quality. Nominations are due Dec. 15. This year’s winner was Manchester, which installed a whitewater park on the Maquoketa River downtown. Read more
