Iowa sheds jobs as unemployment rate stays at 4.1% in August
Des Moines Register: Iowa’s economy slid back in August, shedding jobs despite a strong start to the month after the state cut off unemployment insurance benefits for tens of thousands of workers. Led by job losses at restaurants and factories, payrolls in Iowa declined by 6,500 last month, according to federal data released today. The drop follows three consecutive months of job growth in the state. Iowa’s unemployment rate remained at 4.1%. The national average for August was 5.2%.
