Exile Brewing Co.’s gold lager Ruthie will be the official craft beer of the 2019 Iowa State Fair, Exile announced this morning. Ruthie will debut as the first official craft beer in the fair’s history. Ruthie accounts for more than half of the brewery’s annual production and pays homage to Des Moines bar owner Ruthie Fontanini, who operated Ruthie’s Lounge in the 1950s. Exile Brewing has been served by vendors at the State Fair since the brewery opened in 2012, founder RJ Tursi said. The Iowa State Fair runs Aug. 8-18.
