The Iowa State University Research Park announced it has named Rick Sanders, a former Story County supervisor, as its president. Sanders succeeds Steve Carter, who retired in December after 18 years. Sanders served as a country supervisor since 2010 and as chair from 2013 to 2018. During that time, he was the chief elected official serving both the executive and legislative roles for Story County and oversaw an operating budget of $40 million and 250 employees. Sanders officially announced his resignation from the County Board of Supervisors Wednesday morning, and will remain in the role until May 31. He begins work as the research park’s president June 1.
